Obituary of Sharon McDougall (née Hearty)
Passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. She was in her 81st year and at the end of a long year of illness. Sharon was predeceased by her mother Delima Derouin and her father Owen Peter Hearty and mother in law, Dorothy McDougall.
A large and loving family survives Sharon; her husband Graeme Alexander “Sandy” McDougall, her children Elizabeth (Tom), Patricia, Christina (Dave) and Michael, her siblings Gary, Jerry, Allie (Gerda), Karen (Durrell), Donna (Stan) and Odel, and her granddaughters Emily, Katherine, Colleen and Charlotte. Her spark, her humour and her determination will be missed by all.
Though her life and travels took her across Canada and travelling across the world, her heart always rested with the Ottawa Valley. She worked in banking and managed to raise a family, while reading voraciously and devouring crossword puzzles and sudoku. She was born on Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day in Vinton, Quebec. She loved the Blue Jays and golfing with her husband. She made the world’s best potatoes and gravy. She claimed she never cheated at cards. She was the life and light of every family photo. She taught her children how to love and build a home. She taught her granddaughters to be smart and fearless.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 in St. Edward’s Church, Bristol, Quebec at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association or Animal Aide Pontiac.
