Obituary of Catherine "Cassie" Hall (nee Belliveau)
On January 19, 2018, Catherine Sarah Hall passed away peacefully in hospital, Shawville, Quebec, in her 94th year. Cassie, as she was better known, is survived by her son David of Shawville, daughter Linda and her husband, Jim Ulam, of Fremonk, California and her niece, Cindy Martin, of Calgary, Alberta. She was predeceased by her loving husband of sixty-five years, Harold Hall, in 2012.
At the beginning of their marriage, Harold’s work took them to the new pulp and paper town of Terrace Bay, Ontario where their children were born. Later, a stint in Thurso, Quebec where Cassie worked for Hans Chemical, a pyrotechnics company, in Papineauville, Quebec. Finally settling in Shawville in 1967, she continued her secretarial career, working at the pulp and paper mill in Portage du Fort, Quebec.
Retiring in 1990, Cassie enjoyed travel in Europe, Asia and North and South America with Harold. When not travelling, days were filled with bridge, golf, gardening, needlepoint, volunteering at the Lion’s “Home on the Hill” and doing stained glass and dried flower projects.
To the end her sense of humour never failed to amuse others. Her children will miss “their dear old mom” very, very much. Many, many thanks to those who cared so lovingly for her in the Long Term Care Unit of the Pontiac Community Hospital, Shawville. Burial will be private.
